Our state-of-the-art Loss Prevention Department currently has the following opportunity at our Head Office in Richmond, BC:

Loss Prevention Supervisor, Investigations - Interim for 6 months

The Loss Prevention (LP) Supervisor, Investigations is responsible for leading and directly supervising the Investigations team. The Supervisor oversees the management of Investigators and ensures that investigations related to internal integrity issues, claims, privacy breaches, substantial inventory loss, organized retail crime, and serious financial crime are conducted effectively.

The Supervisor ensures the Investigations team is prepared to prevent, detect, investigate, and resolve internal investigations with forensically sound, industry-standard practices. The role involves establishing and communicating investigative standards to internal and external resources, ensuring that all investigations are conducted professionally, efficiently, and in full compliance with legal and ethical standards.

Additional responsibilities include:
  • Lead, supervise, and manage the Investigations team to ensure department objectives are met.
  • Oversee and manage investigations related to internal integrity issues, claims, privacy breaches, inventory loss, organized retail crime, and serious financial crime.
  • Ensure the team adheres to company policies, evidence gathering, surveillance, and privacy regulations.
  • Conduct Loss Prevention audits to detect internal losses and ensure compliance with policy and procedure.
  • Develop and implement investigation strategies and plans, ensuring they are completed efficiently and ethically.
  • Provide actionable intelligence by conducting statistical analysis and identifying crime trends.
  • Lead Organized Retail Crime (ORC) initiatives and manage intelligence-gathering processes.
  • Train and mentor investigators on investigative techniques, suspect recognition, and interviewing methods.
  • Ensure compliance with all investigation-related licensing and regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain investigation records and ensure reports are completed to company standards.
  • Oversee the safe, legal, and ethical use of investigative resources and equipment.
  • Represent Loss Prevention objectives at internal and external meetings and events.
  • Manage team performance and complete payroll and administrative tasks as required.
  • Work with law enforcement and external agencies as needed.
  • Respond to after-hours emergencies and lead security responses as needed.
  • Maintain confidentiality of all investigative matters and ensure the team does the same.
  • Perform additional tasks as directed by the General Manager, Loss Prevention.
Skills and Abilities:
  • Strong decision-making, conflict resolution, and leadership skills.
  • Ability to remain calm and exercise good judgment in emergencies.
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality and objectivity in sensitive situations.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills for report writing and court testimony.
  • Expertise in surveillance techniques, covert video installation, and asset tracking.
  • Ability to delegate effectively and follow up to ensure tasks are completed.
  • Proficient in coaching, mentoring, and developing investigative team members.
  • Skilled in analyzing case files and determining appropriate investigative responses.
  • Experience with data analysis, exception-based reporting, and generating investigative leads.  
  • Highly organized, with the ability to multitask and manage changing priorities.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to relate to all levels of personnel and stakeholders.

Education and Knowledge:
  • Extensive knowledge of security practices, investigative processes, and the criminal justice system.
  • Advanced understanding of relevant provincial licensing, regulations, and criminal code sections applicable to security operations.
  • Strong knowledge of investigative techniques, interviewing methods (e.g., Wicklander-Zulawski, PEACE), and case-building strategies.
  • Formal education in criminology, emergency management, justice, or security management, or equivalent experience.
  • Industry-relevant certifications (e.g., CFI, PCI, LPQ, ACFE) are preferred.
  • Experience with conducting internal investigations, especially in the retail sector, is an asset.
  • Working knowledge of employment law, civil process, and criminal code.
  • Proficiency in general computer skills (Windows, Microsoft Office, etc.) and familiarity with investigative management systems and audit tools.
  • First Aid and WHMIS certification required.
  • This permanent Full-time role is located at our Richmond Head Office.
